A large crowd turned out to see the Chautauqua County Legislature in action. Many of those filling the Legislature's chamber in the Gerace Office Building in Mayville Wednesday night were there to show support for a motion that urges to the State Legislature and Governor Cuomo to repeal the New York SAFE Act. Most legislators backed the measure.
Tampio-Motion passes
Republican George Borrello of Silver Creek spoke in support of the motion, saying that it was important to send a message to state lawmakers and Governor Cuomo.
The vote drew such a large crowd that lawmakers decided to take up the motion before other items on the agenda including County Executive Greg Edwards' State of the County address.
