Area Congressman Tom Reed visited the Fredonia area today to learn about a new program that is linking education to regional economic development. Reed spoke with staff and students with the Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH.) The Republican from Corning says he is "all in" with the program that aims to prepares students for high-wage, high-tech and high-demand jobs in Western New York.
Reed-Wanted to see program
Reed met with several officials during the visit including David O'Rourke of Erie 2, Chautauqua Cattaraugus BOCES and Dunkirk School Superintendent Gary Cerne. O'Rourke says it was important for Reed to see the program first hand.
O'Rourke-Important visit
The program is currently located at the LoGuidice Center near Fredonia, but efforts are being made to re-locate the P-Tech Academy in the former School 6 building. The project is subject to a voter referendum in the Dunkirk City School District set for October 6th.
