The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office has announced that it has established a Drone Unit. The team consists of members from multiple divisions -- including patrol, corrections, dispatch, and IT. The Sheriff's Office will be utilizing drones as a method to provide law enforcement officers with critical information in emergency situations, such as locating lost or missing people, safely clearing the interior of buildings, or providing an aerial view of crimes. The Sheriff's Office says the establishment of the Drone Unit is made possible through a generous donation from a community member.
