Jamestown Community College adjunct art instructor Mark Kirsch recently earned the SUNY Chancellor's Award for excellence in adjunct teaching. Kirsch has been with JCC for more than 30 years and was also a longtime photography teacher at Southwestern Central School.
An unnamed fellow JCC employee who nominated Kirsch says, "Mark balances the many facets of the adjunct role and enhances his contributions through his passion for art and his caring demeanor. Over his 30-plus years on the faculty of JCC, he has inspired hundreds of students -- from high school students to adult learners -- to see the world through the lens of art, and to share their vision through their creations. He embodies the JCC college promise, which commits our faculty to providing 'challenging educational experiences in a caring environment.' Mark is a highly valued member of our adjunct faculty who has earned the special recognition associated with this award."
The SUNY Chancellor's Awards for Excellence provide recognition for consistently superior professional achievement and to encourage the ongoing pursuit of excellence. The awards provide SUNY-wide recognition in five categories: faculty service, librarianship, professional service, scholarship and creative activities, and teaching.
