A 78-year-old woman died, while a 78-year-old man is in critical condition after a house exploded Monday evening in Lake View. According to Hamburg Town Police, Joene Pease was found dead as the result of the explosion at an address on West Lane, while John Pease was transported to ECMC. The explosion destroyed that residence, and several others sustained heat damage from the blast. A fireman and a police officer were also hospitalized with minor injuries. Police say 17 fire companies responded to the incident. The Chautauqua County Tech Rescue Team also responded.
