While gas prices across the country have been rising amid the conflict between Israel and Iran, last week's temporary spike at the pump has quickly dissipated. According to AAA, Monday's national average fell more than three cents per gallon to $3.19. Meantime, New York State saw its average inch higher by a fraction of a penny to $3.21. And the average price at the pump in Chautauqua County ticked down by a little more than a penny to $3.30. One year ago, the national and statewide averages were $3.49 and $3.59, respectively.
As of Monday morning, oil prices are back to what they were before the Israel-Iran conflict, ranging from $65-69 per barrel. AAA says with Independence Day around the corner and 61.6 million holiday travelers preparing to hit the road next week, gas prices may increase slightly.
