
A six-year-old child in the north county is now safe after going missing for about two hours Saturday morning. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office and State Police received a report of the missing child in the area of the BOCES LoGuidice Center on Fredonia-Stockton Road just after 10:00 AM. According to the Fredonia Fire Department, the child wandered into a wooded area and became separated from their party. After an extensive search, the child was located by a sheriff's deputy just before 12:00 PM, approximately one mile from the incident location in Canadaway Creek. The Sheriff's Office says the child was not injured but was taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital as a precaution. Chautauqua County EMS, Alstar Ambulance, New York State Forest Rangers, the Chautauqua County Tech Rescue Team, Chautauqua County CAST Team, Dunkirk Police and Jamestown Police drone teams, and Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office K-9 Division also assisted with the search effort.
