City of Dunkirk's First Open Department Head Meeting Set for Friday

Dunkirk Mayor Kate Wdowiasz has been talking about holding her own meetings due to frustration over what she feels is a lack of action by the Common Council on "relevant matters" for the city. On Friday, the public will get an opportunity to see what one of those meetings will look like. That's when Wdowiasz will hold the city's first-ever open meeting of city department heads. Kate Wdowiasz: would like them between council meetings
Wdowiasz says there is a need to "reopen the lines of communication" between the administration and the council. She adds that members of the public will have an opportunity to ask questions at the conclusion of these meetings.
When asked about what will be on Friday's agenda, Wdowiasz highlighted a need for the city to put together a budget calendar, as recommended by the New York State Comptroller's Office. She says she will propose her own calendar and will seek input from the Common Council at some point.
