Chautauqua County's top cop has been honored with a Commitment to Excellence Award from Jamestown City Treatment Court. Undersheriff James Rensel, Captain Jacob Stahley and Sergeant Phil Lombardo from the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office were on hand to accept the award on behalf of Sheriff Jim Quattrone. National Treatment Court Month is observed each May to recognize the important role treatment courts play in helping individuals address substance use and mental health challenges while remaining accountable for their actions. Treatment courts bring together judges, treatment professionals, attorneys, law enforcement, and community partners to support participants on their path to recovery and stability. These courts focus on rehabilitation rather than punishment alone, helping participants access treatment, build life skills, and reduce future involvement with the justice system.
