A man from the Finger Lakes area is facing a bevy of charges following a vehicle pursuit through a construction area of I-86 in Cattaraugus County Wednesday night. According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office, a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Jonathan Pickles of Canandaigua passed deputies on the highway in the Town of Carrollton at a high rate of speed. Deputies say Pickles failed to stop for their emergency lights and sirens and continued through construction in the towns of Carrollton, Great Valley and Salamanca, passing vehicles in the coned-off area and on the right hand side of the road. Pickles then left the highway at Exit 21 and crashed his car going into a ditch, hitting multiple signs and the guardrail. Deputies say Pickles was also found to have a juvenile in the vehicle when they made contact. Pickles was evaluated by EMS and transported to an area hospital. He was charged with 3rd-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, 2nd-degree reckless endangerment, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was given an appearance ticket and was also issued 13 traffic tickets. Salamanca Police, Seneca Nation Marshals, New York State Parks Police, Seneca Nation EMS and Salamanca Fire/EMS assisted at the scene.
