The annual campaign to raise money to support the Jamestown area's largest soup kitchen has set a new record for the amount raised. The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities and the St. Susan Center announced Friday that the 27th Annual Cents for St. Susan brought in $42,386, marking the first time the drive has exceeded the $40,000 mark. A total of 14 sponsors contributed at least $500 each. Money was also raised through the BPU's annual hot dog sale, which brought in more than $1,700. More than 50 canisters were placed around the area to support the effort as well. With increasing food costs and for day-to-day operations, Rowland says the financial boost is welcomed. The Cents for St. Susan's campaign brought in over $6,000 more this year compared to last year's record of $36,330 dollars. In 27 years, the campaign has now raised more than $474,000.
