Gillibrand Unhappy with Trump Administration's Rollback of Gun Safety Regulations

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is taking the Trump Administration to task following its recent announcement that it will scrap dozens of federal gun regulations that are enforced by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. During a video conference call with reporters last week, Gillibrand cited a number of deadly mass shootings in nine states that took place during the July 4th holiday period. She warns that tragedies like that will become more frequent with the administration's decision...

Kirsten Gillibrand: absolutely unconscionable

Gillibrand also used her conference call to highlight an interstate gun trafficking ban that became law in 2022. She says the statute, which is part of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, has been used to charge 1,065 suspected gun traffickers nationwide, with more than 330 already convicted. Gillibrand adds that more than 6,000 guns, including over 500 in New York State, have been seized by law enforcement due to those prosecutions.
