New Historic Marker in Jamestown Recognizes Local Tool Company

The City of Jamestown has honored more of its manufacturing legacy with the unveiling of its 81st historic marker at the site of the former J.P. Danielson Tool Company. Historic Marker Committee member Art Osterdahl's father worked at Proto Tool from the mid 1950s to the 1960s. He says the committee obtained a photo of the former factory and was able to get the marker set near the front door of the plant...

Rohlin says Danielson, and then Proto Tool, was recognized for its innovation, craftsmanship, and contributions that helped shape Jamestown's reputation as a center of American manufacturing. Proto Tool purchased the company in 1947.
