Two state senators from Western New York highlighted National Farmers Market Week on Thursday. George Borrello and Senate Republican Leader Robert Ortt began the day with a visit to the Lakewood Farmers Market, discussing the importance of farmers markets, fresh food, and the ability to stretch SNAP benefits on locally grown produce. Robert Ortt: stretching dollars further

Borrello and Ortt were joined by assemblymembers Paul Bologna and Angelo Morinello, plus representatives from the Field & Fork Network who highlighted their Double Up Food Bucks program. That began in Western New York in 2014.
