Dunkirk City Schools Working to Fill Staffing Numbers

The Dunkirk City School District is working on filling its staff before students return to the classroom in September. Superintendent Brian Swatland, who was a guest on WDOE's "Viewpoint" program on Wednesday, says the district currently has 10 open teaching positions and will be conducting interviews to fill those spots within the next two weeks. Meanwhile, the Board of Education passed a resolution on Tuesday that will allow the district to expedite the hiring process. Swatland explains that action was taken so the district could avoid having to hold special board meetings...

Brian Swatland: generally have to give a 30-day notice

The measure was passed by a 6-1 vote, with Loretta Torain the lone "no" vote. Swatland said it's important for new hires to get into Dunkirk's orientation and learn about the city and the district's schools before the new school year begins.
