Hochul's Lead Over Blakeman Trimmed to 10% in Latest Siena Poll

Incumbent Governor Kathy Hochul's lead over her challenger in the November election has been cut in half over the past month-and-a-half, according to the results of a new Siena University poll released this week. The poll, conducted August 3-6, finds that the Western New York Democrat leads Long Island Republican Bruce Blakeman 49-39%. A Siena poll from mid-June had Hochul leading 52-32%. The latest poll also finds that, according to likely voters, Hochul will do a better job than Blakeman increasing the supply of affordable housing, 51-35%; making prices more affordable for average New Yorkers, 48-41%; and developing New York's energy future, 47-42%. Hochul and Blakeman are closely divided on keeping New Yorkers safe and addressing undocumented immigrants living in New York. Hochul holds the edge in those categories 47-44% and 45-44%, respectively. The poll had 811 respondents and has a +/-4.2% margin of error.
