Lakewood-Busti Police have charged a Fluvanna man under Leandra's Law after he was allegedly found to be drunk while driving with a young child in the vehicle in the Village of Lakewood. Officers patrolling East Fairmount Avenue saw a speeding vehicle shortly after 11:00 PM Sunday and found the driver, 35-year-old Michael Thorp, was allegedly intoxicated. He also allegedly resisted officers when they took him into custody. Thorp was charged with DWI, two counts of aggravated DWI, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, and speeding. He was released with appearance tickets for Busti Town Court.
