A one-vehicle rollover crash took the life of a Cattaraugus County man early Sunday morning. State Police in Machias responded to the incident in the Town of Freedom at about 5:30 AM. Troopers say an investigation determined that a vehicle traveling on Route 98 towards Galen Hill Road left the roadway, rolled once and came to rest against a tree. The driver, 36-year-old Phillip Schramm of Freedom, was ejected from the vehicle as a result. Troopers and EMS personnel attempted live-saving measures; however, Schramm was pronounced dead at the scene. He was transported to a local hospital for an autopsy.
