New York State is honoring those whose lives were lost in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. Governor Kathy Hochul has directed flags, including the 9/11 Memorial Flag at the State Capitol and Empire State Plaza in Albany, to be flown at half-staff until sunset. Shown here are flags flying at half-staff during a ceremony in remembrance of four New York State Police Troop T members who lost their lives to 9/11-related illnesses and more than 200 Thruway employees who supported recovery and cleanup efforts at Ground Zero in the days and weeks following the attacks. Hochul has also also has directed 17 landmarks across the state to be illuminated red, white and blue in remembrance.
