NYMC's Manning Excited About Opening of 'Long Project in the Making'

This week has been an exciting one for New York Medical Center, with the first phase of its new behavioral health and addiction treatment center now open to the public. While the project to repurpose the former Lake Shore Hospital in Irving was more than a year in the making, the facility first popped up on NYMC's radar during the summer of 2024. That's according to CEO Ray Manning, who spoke with WDOE News at Thursday's grand opening...

Manning says the new facility currently has 25 beds available and will begin accepting patients on Monday. He describes the next steps in the renovation process...

Ray Manning: next steps for behavioral health and pediatric

He added that the project has been questioned by many in the community about whether it would come to fruition, but, "It's finally here and it's gonna happen." Once complete, Manning anticipates the facility to have a total of 162 beds available. The grand opening was held more than five years after the closure of Lake Shore Hospital.
