Council Committee Aims to Address Issues with E-Bikes, E-Scooters in Jamestown

The head of the Jamestown City Council's Public Safety Committee says the number of nuisance issues with e-bikes and e-scooters has worsened in the past few months. Jeremy Engquist brought up the issue during this week's City Council work session. Engquist says it was a major focus of the committee's previous meeting. He says there has been a huge uptick in issues involving those types of vehicles...

Scott Forster: how much can it be enforced

Forster says the committee discussed bringing back the JPD Bike Patrol, and possibly adding some e-bikes to that. However, he say certifications are needed, and the officer doing that training recently retired. He says a new person is going through that now. Mayor Kim Ecklund says Corporation Counsel Elliot Raimondo and an assistant are looking at state and other regulations to hopefully draw up something that has more teeth in it.
