Wdowiasz Nearing Finalization of Tentative Budget After Approval of Water Rate Hikes

The deadline for the Mayor of Dunkirk to present a tentative city budget for 2027 is just over a week away. However, the Common Council's approval of a local law increasing city water rates has cleared the way for Kate Wdowiasz to finalize her numbers, and she says those projections should be determined by the end of the week. Wdowiasz, who gave an update on WDOE's "Viewpoint" program on Wednesday, says Tuesday's passage of that law will help the city's revenue streams...

Meanwhile, council members on Tuesday also okayed a measure ratifying a tentative agreement between the city and AFSCME Local 912. According to Wdowiasz, that move could come close to offsetting the increased water revenue if two other unions follow suit...
Kate Wdowiasz: barely enough to cover salaries
Wdowiasz has until next Thursday, October 15th to present a spending plan, according to the City Charter. She says is not planning to request an extension.
