New York's top fiscal watchdog says state tax receipts through the middle of the state's fiscal year were $7.3 billion higher than estimates by the Division of the Budget. According to data in Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli's monthly State Cash Report, receipts totaled $68.5 billion through September, which is also $8.6 billion higher than those through September 2025. DiNapoli says those higher tax collections are partially due to financial market growth, citing significant increases in Wall Street profits. However, he adds that "consumer costs keep rising and many families are still struggling. While strong financial market growth bodes well for some, we must ensure the economy works for all New Yorkers."
