An elderly man lost his life in a two-vehicle, head-on crash in Allegany County last Monday. State Police in Amity responded to the scene on Route 19 in the Town of Wellsville and determined that a southbound SUV crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a northbound Mack truck. Troopers identified the driver of the SUV as 87-year-old Frederick Francisco of Wellsville, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was taken to a local hospital for precautionary assessment.
