Maurene B. House, 91, of Orchard Park, formerly of Cassadaga, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 3, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest House.
Maurene was born on June 12, 1933 in Cassadaga to Adrian and Hildur Johnson Bergquist. She was a 1951 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School and went on to earn her degree at Fredonia State University, finding great fulfillment in her career as a special education teacher.
She is survived by daughters, Rhonda (Robert) Drezek and Gayle House; son, Jeffrey (Sharon Ruckh); grandsons, Michael (Michelle) Drezek, Scott (Julie) Drezek and Lance Thurston (Christie Grant); granddaughter, Lisa (Andrew) Ruestow; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends; a sister, Ruth Galbreath; and and many friends at Fox Run in Orchard Park. She was predeceased by a brother, Roger Bergquist; brother-in-law, Jack Galbreath; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Bergquist.
Maurene was an amazing woman who cared deeply for her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.
Family will be present on Friday, May 9 from 4:00-8:00 PM for calling hours and Saturday, May 10 at 11:00 AM for a funeral service at the Jordan Funeral Home, 6 Parkway Drive in Sinclairville, NY. Interment will be in the Cassadaga Cemetery. A celebration of Maurene's life will be held at Fox Run at a later date.
