Lance H. Cave, age 76, of Brocton passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026. He was born on June 5, 1950 in Dunkirk and lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a warm presence that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Lance graduated from Dunkirk High School and went on to serve his country in the Army National Guard. He later worked as a machinist at Renold Ajax, Inc. in Westfield, where he was respected for his strong work ethic, and reliability. He took pride in doing his job well and in being someone others could count on.
He enjoyed many simple pleasures in life, especially fishing, hunting, playing cards, and spending time at the bowling alley and in pool leagues. He also liked going to Las Vegas and found joy in the companionship of neighbors, family, and friends. These interests brought him happiness and gave him many opportunities to share good times and lasting memories with those around him.
Lance is survived by his wife, Shirley Cave; his daughters, Kelly (Chester) Tanner, Barbara Cave (Donald) and Christine Lockwood (Michael); his grandchildren, Christopher and Lucas Tanner; his sisters, Bonnie Cave and Laura (Wayne) Hartinger; his stepfather, Jake Mosier; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, neighbors, and friends who held him dear. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joan Mosier and Leo Cave; as well as his siblings, Judy Crawford, Byron Cave, Randy Cave and Richard "Butch" Mosier.
Lance will be remembered for his kind nature, his love of family, and the quiet strength he showed throughout his life. He valued time spent with others and had a way of making people feel welcome and appreciated. His presence brought comfort and familiarity to those around him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends may visit the Morse Funeral Home, 19 East Main Street in Brocton on Wednesday, June 24 from 1:00-3:00 PM. A service will immediately follow at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Portland Evergreen Cemetery.
