John F. Taddio (EDO), 78, of Dunkirk passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, September 30, 2026. Born in Dunkirk on April 26, 1948, he was the beloved husband of Rosemary (Muffoletto) Taddio and son of the late Clara (Ippolito) and Anthony (EDO) Taddio.
John was a graduate of Cardinal Mindszenty High School, Class of 1966. He is survived by his beloved three children, A.J. (Shelly) Taddio, Tara (Stephanie) Taddio and Adrienne (Kyle) Incitto; along with his six grandchildren that he was so very proud of -- Jake Taddio, C.J. Taddio, Angelina Tomkiewicz, Bella Tomkiewicz, Jocco Pericozzi and Vino Incitto. John always said his greatest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Roberta Jones and Diane (Mike) Gifford; as well as his brother-in-law, David (Liz) Muffoletto; and sister-in-law, Carol Hatfield. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Joseph Muffoletto.
John dedicated 56 years of service to the United Steel Workers of America and Labor. He held various offices as a member of the Steel Workers Union 2693, becoming president and serving in that position until April 2022. John had a passion for youth sports and was a coach of the youth football Elks and Eagles in the 1970s and came back to coach again in the 1990s. He helped many young athletes become better citizens. For 30 years, John played and coached city league touch football, and in his early days, he loved singing in a band. He also was a social member of the Dunkirk Exempts Club.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend calling hours on Monday, October 5 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, 736 Central Avenue in Dunkirk. A Mass of Christian Burial will also be held for friends and family on Tuesday, October 6 at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 1032 Central Avenue in Dunkirk.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in memory of John "EDO" Taddio to the Visiting Nursing Association of WNY to support home health care and patient services in Chautauqua County.
