Saturday Sports Update
Top: Could this be the next major building block for the Buffalo Sabres? On Friday, the Sabres drafted Casey Mittelstadt, a native of Eden Prairie, Minnesota with the 8th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. Mittelstadt won't suit up for the Sabres right away, as he will be attending the University of Minnesota. But 65 goals in three high school seasons, as well as 30 points in 24 games with the USHL's Green Bay Gamblers last season, was enough for the Sabres to snag Mittelstadt. Photo by USA Today

Friday's game was delayed by about 95 minutes because of rain, but for the Yankee fans who stayed after midnight, it was worth it, as they got to see a 2-1 victory. The Bronx Bombers forced extra innings when Brett Gardner hit a solo homer in the bottom of the 9th. Photo by Newsday

The man known as "Big Papi" played 14 of his 20 Major League Baseball seasons with the Red Sox. He hit 541 career home runs, good for 17th on MLB's all-time list. Photo by USA Today
