Saturday Sports Update

Top left: Billy McKinney launches a three-run home run during the 4th inning of the New York Yankees' game against the Kansas City Royals on Friday.  The round-tripper wasn't the youngster's only highlight of the night; McKinney also made two great catches in the outfield to rob two Royals of extra-base hits in a 5-4 win for New York.  The win snapped a four-game skid for New York, which begins the day in last place in the American League East and three game out of a playoff spot.

Top right: He's not the first former Buffalo Bills player to do this.  On Friday, wide receiver Cole Beasley signed a deal with with the New York Giants, joining other former Bills in reuniting with current Giants head coach Brian Daboll.  The 11-year veteran began last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, retired after appearing in two games, then rejoined the Bills late in the regular season and appeared in both of the team's playoff games.

Bottom left: Sophia Smith celebrates with her teammates after scoring one of her two goals in the USA's first game of the Women's World Cup in New Zealand on Friday.  Smith, who made her Women's World Cup debut at age 22, became the second youngest player in Team USA history to score multiple goals in a World Cup contest as her team defeated Vietnam 3-0.

Bottom right: It's a major event this weekend in golf, and after two rounds of play, Brian Harman established a five-shot lead at the British Open.  On Friday, Harman fired a 65 -- the low round of the day -- to reach -10 entering the weekend at the Royal Liverpool course.  Harman's bogey-free Round 2 included an eagle at the 18th hole.
