Saturday Sports Update

Top left: One week of training camp is in the books for the Buffalo Bills.  Friday was the team's third day of activities at St. John Fisher University.  A welcome sight for the Bills will be the return of safety tandem Micah Hyde (left) and Jordan Poyer (right), who are entering their seventh season together at One Bills Drive.  Hyde, who is coming off a neck injury that cut his 2022 season short, told reporters that he doesn't feel that head coach Sean McDermott taking over the play-calling for the defense will be a big adjustment, compared to getting back into "training camp football."  Photo by the Buffalo Bills

Top right: One of the battles that will take shape during Bills training camp is who will handle the kickoff and punt return duties in the wake of Nyheim Hines' season-ending knee injury.  On Friday, the Bills signed a player who may compete in that regard; Andy Isabella was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019 and had 33 catches for 447 yards and three touchdowns before being waived last season.  Photo by the Arizona Cardinals

Bottom left: The Buffalo Sabres have their 1st-round draft pick under contract.  On Friday, the team announced the signing of forward Zach Benson, the 13th overall selection in the 2023 NHL Draft, to a three-year entry-level deal.  Benson, who is coming off a 98-point season with the Western Hockey League's Winnipeg Ice, is the second player from the team's 2023 class to sign their entry-level contract.  Photo by the Buffalo Sabres

Bottom right: It may be a welcome sight for New York Yankees fans to see the captain back in the lineup after missing nearly two months with a foot injury, but Aaron Judge's presence did not help against the Baltimore Orioles.  Judge went 0-for-1 with three walks in a pitcher's duel that the Yankees lost 1-0 on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th inning.  Photo by USA Today
