Saturday Sports Update
Top: Buffalo Bills football is back! Today, the Bills will take the field at Highmark Stadium for their preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts. Head coach Sean McDermott (left) will be using the team's three preseason contests to continue his evaluation process in a number of position battles. McDermott told reporters this week that many of his starters would see approximately one quarter of playing time for today's game. However, two of the starters -- Josh Allen (right) and Stefon Diggs -- will not play. Tune in to WDOE (101.5 FM/1410 AM) for all the action of today's contest, with kickoff at 1:00 PM! Volpe's homer propelled the Yankees to a 9-4 victory. New York, however, remains in last place in the American League East and four games out a wild card spot. Photo by USA Today
Bottom right: He's back in Toronto...but this time to officially retire. On Friday, the Blue Jays signed 42-year-old slugger Jose Bautista to a one-day contract so he can retire as a Blue Jay. Bautista, who hasn't played in the Major Leagues since 2018, hit 344 home runs over 15 MLB seasons. Bautista played nine full seasons with the Blue Jays, with his bat flip in the 2015 American League Playoffs regarded by many as his signature moment. Image by the Toronto Blue Jays
