A major winter storm continues to grip parts of Western New York. While some locations south of Buffalo are experiencing near blizzard conditions, everyone has to deal with the severe wind chill. A band of heavy lake effect snow moved out of the North County earlier this morning, but the band may move southward again. Dunkirk Mayor AJ Dolce says they are continuing a travel advisory in the city.

The National Weather Service is continuing a Lake effect snow warning until 6:00 AM Wednesday and has extended our wind chill warning until 9:00 AM Wednesday. We're looking at three to five additional inches of snowfall after midnight, with storm totals of more than two feet possible in the most persistent lake snows. Wind chill values overnight could drop to as low as 30 below zero.
The New York State Thruway remains closed from Exit 46 in the Rochester area to the Pennsylvania State Line. Governor Andrew Cuomo has issued a State of Emergency for all of Western New York, including Chautauqua County.
