Three people from Lakewood are facing a number of federal charges for allegedly running an illegal securities fraud scheme. Eric Cusimano; his wife, Jessica Cusimano; and Jamie Boye have all been charged with felony securities fraud and felony money laundering. According to court documents, the three used consulting companies, newsletters, and websites called bestdamnpennystocks.com and trypennystocks.com to put out misleading information that caused investors to buy stocks at highly inflated prices. Investigators say at least 60,000 investors subscribed to the websites. Eric Cusimano allegedly received at least $4.26 million to tout 26 penny stocks, while Boye allegedly received nearly $1 million to tout 15 penny stocks. Eric and Jessica Cusimano were arrested earlier this week by FBI agents. Boye was believed to already be in custody on an unrelated charge.
