A Great Lakes researcher and professor from the State University of New York at Fredonia is getting ready for her second big swim as she continues to raise awareness about the lakes. Dr. Sherri Mason will swim across Lake Erie, starting at the Sturgeon Point Marina around 7 am Saturday and hopes to complete the crossing near Crystal Beach, Ontario. Back in June, Dr. Mason completed a 15.5 mile swim of Chautauqua Lake from Mayville to Celoron. Dr. Mason indicated in a statement to the media, including WDOE News, that she has spent "over one year, over one million yards of swim training, all for this one day." She hopes finish the effort around 3 pm Saturday.
