The Village of Fredonia is awaiting water test results to make sure drinking water is safe for customers in the village, as well as the Town of Pomfret. On Sunday, Mayor Athanasia Landis gave an update on the boil and conserve water order, which had been issued for Fredonia and Pomfret on Saturday after a major water main break occurred in the area of Castile Drive. Mayor Landis made the following statement on her Facebook page:
The boil water advisory is still in place and will last at least until tomorrow. We need 2 sets of tests to come back negative. We sent one last night after all breaks were fixed and the system flashed, another one will be sent today. Our water system is working fine since 3:30 yesterday afternoon by the way, we just need to make sure the water is safe. Chautauqua County Health Department is the one who will clear the water for drinking. I know it's a bit annoying but please continue to follow the Health Department's advice. Thank you all for your cooperation and understanding.
