A Dunkirk man is facing a number of charges following an investigation into welfare fraud. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office reports that 45-year-old Jorge Rivera, Jr. failed to notify Social Services that someone he was receiving food stamp benefits for had income over a nine-month period from May 2015 to January 2016. This unreported income allegedly allowed Rivera to receive $3,999 in unentitled benefits. He has been charged with 3rd-degree grand larceny, 3rd-degree welfare fraud, misuse of food stamps, and offering a false instrument for filing.
