Donald L Woods Sr., age 77, of Portland, NY, passed away on April 9, 2014 at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.
Donald was born on January 24, 1937 in Portland, NY, to Clyde and Ruby Campbell Woods. Don graduated from Brocton Central School in 1955. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was past Commander of Brocton AmVets Post 868. Don also worked at Dunkirk Radiation for 35 years.
Don was a member of the Portland Fire Deptartment, a Life member of Hose 4 Dunkirk, the past President of Southwestern Association of Volunteer Fireman in 1981, FASNY Western Association of Volunteer Fireman, Chautauqua County Fire Police Association, Chapter U Motorcycle Club of Jamestown, the GWRRA, The Westfield Fish and Game Club, The Retired Bowlers, The Portland Congregational Church, The Zipping Stars and Dom Polski's of Dunkirk.
Donald Woods Sr. is survived by his children Donald (Tammy) Woods Jr. of Ripley, NY, Larry (Jaime friend) Woods of Elk Grove, Calif. and Kathy Woods of Sinclairville, and his grandchildren Brexton, Danika, Leeza(Gert) Lindzy, Tony and Katy Woods, Justin and Jessica Parment, his step grandchildren Tim, Luke and Briana along with three great grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Donald is also survived by his special loving friend and companion Laura Jean Parment.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased in death by his brother Vincent Woods and a daughter Dawn Woods.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday April 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. from the Portland Congregational Church 8649 Church St. Portland NY. The Rev Gordon Spiller will officiate. Full Military Honors will be conducted by The American Legion John W Dill Post 434 of Brocton, NY. Interment will be private. Friends are invited to call at the Morse Funeral Home 51 Highland Ave in Brocton, New York from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, April 14.
