Allen Gordon Steele, 53, of Arkwright, NY and Pittsburgh, PA, was the son of the late Dr. Paul B. and Ann G. Steele Jr.
Survived by his loving sister, Allison Lang (Ed) of Kiawah Island, SC, and brother, Paul Steele (Patti) of Alamo, CA. Gordon is also survived by his adored nieces Courtney and Maddie Lang, Betsy Steele and nephew Max Steele. Gordon leaves behind his beloved dog, Morris Titanic, and many loving friends throughout the country.
Gordon graduated from Kenyon College in 1983, received a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. Gordon was a former President of th U.S. Jesters and for the past six years was a Trustee of the Elks (BPOE). He served as the Scholarship Liaison for the Elks National Foundation. An award-winning teacher and athlete, Gordon will be long remembered for his infectious smile and laughter, larger than life personality and kindness to everyone he met.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gordon's memory may be made to Kenyon College, Alumni and Parent Programs, Gambier, Ohio, or the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, 212 Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk, NY 14048.
A memorial service celebrating Gordon's life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. at the Church of the Ascension, 4729 Ellsworth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
