Richard F. Covert Jr., 70, of Byron, GA and longtime resident of Westfield, NY passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, November 19, 2015.
"Rick," as he was known by his many close friends, and "Papa" by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren, was a devoted husband to Darlene for 49 years and loving father to Richard F. Covert III, Scott Covert, Sr., Candy Abram, and Brandy Lindstrom.
He served honorably with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict for four years and held many positions throughout his life, retiring from Growers Coop in Westfield, NY in 2000.
Rick enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and trapping but his true passion was horsemanship, training horses for his own purposes as well as others.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Covert; brothers, Paul and Gerald Covert; and sister, Phyllis Hancock. He is survived by his wife Darlene, four children, his father, a sister, 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Viewing hours will be held at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, 701 Carl Vinson Pkwy, Warner Robins, GA 31093 on Sunday, November 22 from 2 to 4 p.m., with funeral services to follow on Tuesday, November 24 at 10 a.m.
