William A. Dankert, age 84, of Fredonia, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Brooks Memorial Hospital with his loving family at his side.
Bill was born on October 4, 1931 to the late Ralph and Lena Piehl Dankert. He grew up in the Town of Pomfret and attended Fredonia Schools. Bill served in the U.S. Army Engineer Division, from 1952-1954.
On December 22, 1954, Bill married the love of his life, the former Miriam Fairbanks. The couple shared 60 wonderful years of marriage.
A talented carpenter, Bill worked at H.F. Sahloff Builders, and then established Dankert Brothers Builders, where he was co-owner with his brother Robert.
Bill was a longtime active member of the Laona United Methodist Church, where he served on the Finance Committee and also served as a Trustee. He was also a member of the WNY Two Cylinder Club and the NRA.
Bill is survived by his wife, Miriam Fairbanks Dankert; his children, Kristopher (Kathy) Dankert, Daniel (Lori) Dankert and Julie (Dean) DuBois; grandchildren, Ashley and Jessi Dankert and Corey DuBois; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bill is predeceased by his brothers, Harry, Donald, Robert, Thomas and Ralph Dankert; and two sisters, Irene Odell and Doris Thompson.
Calls may be made Tuesday, November 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Larson-Timko Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia, NY. Funeral services will be held at the Laona United Methodist Church, 9636 Wilson Road, Laona, NY on Wednesday, November 25 at 11 am. Interment will be in the Webster Cemetery.
