Audrey L. Prosser

Audrey L. Prosser, 89, formerly of 65 Park St., Sinclairville, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Heritage Village Rehab & Skilled Nursing. Her family wishes to thank the staff of Heritage Village for the care and compassion they gave to their mom - God bless you all.

Audrey was the widow of George W. "Joe" Prosser, whom she married May 15, 1948 and who died September 25, 1994. She was born February 26, 1927 on the family farm in the Town of Charlotte, a daughter of the late Fay and Flossie Ridout Lewis, and was a 1943 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School.

In earlier years, she was employed by the Art Metal Corp. and Woolworth's. She later retired in 1988 after 21 years as a teacher's aide at the BOCES LoGuidice Educational Center in Fredonia.

Audrey had been a member of the Charlotte Center United Methodist Church. She was a member and former curator of the Valley Historical Society Museum, as well as member of the Benjamin Prescott Chapter of the DAR and Sinclairville Senior Citizens, and served on the ways & means committee of the Sinclairville Free Library. She also taught Sunday School and Bible School and enjoyed being a hostess for home bible study groups at her home in Sinclairville for many years.Audrey traveled with her late husband to all 50 of the United States, many Canadian provinces and also Northern Mexico. She enjoyed quilting, having made many quilts for family and friends, and enjoyed working with her flowers, crossword puzzles and reading. She was very devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had been active in 4-H and Girl and Cub Scouts throughout the years.

Surviving are a son, Scott (Susan) Prosser of Ocala, FL; three daughters, Brenda (Scott) Johnson of Jamestown, Barbara (James) Pietro of Dunkirk and Bonnie (the late Donald) Larkin of Sinclairville; a godson, Wesley Ridout of Lake Vedra, FL; nine grandchildren, Kerry Potter, Heather Potter, Matthew Pietro, Joshua Pietro, Joseph (Mary) Pietro, Aaron (Heather) Pietro, Stephen Prosser, Benjamin (Becky) Prosser and Sarah Prosser; and six great-grandchildren, Natalie, Nicholas, Grace and Nathan Pietro, and Jack and Sam Pietro. Also surviving are a brother, Darwin (Marilyn) Lewis of Kiantone; a sister, Shirley Herron of California; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Audrey was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Lewis; son-in-law, Donald Larkin; sister, Joyce Chase; two brothers-in-law, Ernest Chase and John Herron; and a sister-in-law, Doris Lewis.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 24 in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor John Gifford will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for two hours prior to the service, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
