Frederick R. Sikorski, 88, of Silver Creek passed away on Sunday morning, April 16, 2017 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk.
Fred was born on September 20, 1928 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Maxmillian and Jane (Lasecki) Sikorski. He graduated from Silver Creek High School, Class of 1946 and attended the Erie Community College studying engineering. Fred was employed by S. Howes & Co. in Silver Creek, retiring in 1993. He served as a Master Sergeant in the National Guard of New York, tank division.
His memberships included the Huntley Hose Company No. 1 of Silver Creek, in which he was a former chief, the Silver Creek Fire Police, St. Paul Lutheran Church of Fredonia, Silver Creek Senior Citizens Club, and the Sheridan Happy Seniors. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Fred is survived by his wife of 18 years, Shirley (Young) Sikorski; three sons, Henry (JoAnn) Sikorski of Young America, IN, David (Dot) Sikorski and Steven (Colleen) Sikorski, both of Silver Creek; a sister, Mary Anne Leonard of Westfield; four stepdaughters, Katherine (Michael) Veley of Syracuse, Kimberly (Lawrence) Rera of East Amherst, Kelleen (Edward) Hamm of Irving and Krisann (Michael) Kline of Versailles; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his aunt, Rosalie Jaggie of Plant City, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Long; and a second wife, Donna Rae Miller.
Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave., Silver Creek on Wednesday, April 19 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 20 at 1 p.m. Pastor William Novack of St. Paul Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.
