Saturday Sports Update
Top: Dunkirk High School senior Devaun Farnham had himself a game Friday night at Karl Hoeppner Field. In the Section VI Class B quarterfinals, Farnham, who got the nod at quarterback against Albion, completed five out of eight passes for 69 yards and also ran for 43 yards. But more significantly, he connected on two field goal attempts. Farnham's first field goal (right), a 45-yarder, gave the Marauders the lead 10 seconds before halftime and also set a school record for longest made field goal. Dunkirk went on to beat Albion 25-7 and will face Cheektowaga next week. Photos by Ron Szot

Gadewoltz made four catches for 65 yards and two touchdowns for the Black Knights, as they rolled past the Bears 41-14. Next up for Silver Creek will be either Allegany-Limestone or Cleveland Hill. Bottom right: Justin Verlander needed to give the Astros another stellar outing on the mound for the Houston Astros, and he delivered on Friday. Verlander tossed seven scoreless innings as the Astros beat the New York Yankees 7-1 in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series. Game 7 is tonight in Houston -- the winner gets a date with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. Photo by USA Today
